Basic Wireless Network Setup

A wireless network is the most convenient form of networking laptops and Wi-Fi compatible devices such as Pda's, movable phones and other gadgets. It does away with wires and cables so the user can freely move nearby and stay related as long as the area is within range. Today's technology also offers high speed wireless connections with enough speed to meet not just home and office but commerce level standards as well. A basic wireless network is composed of a few major components and services. First, a high speed or broadband internet aid should be locally available. Dial up will work but it will be approximately unusable when two or more laptops start using the service. The faster the internet connection, the better. Next in line is the wireless router. This device will act as the distribution hub that will broadcast the wireless signal over the area. It is related to the broadband modem via a cat5 or an Ethernet cable in order for it to gain the internet connection, and lastly, the client computer, preferably a laptop. This device will be related wirelessly and be able to utilize the internet without cables.

Start by connecting the internet port of the wireless router to the Ethernet port of the modem. Disregard this step when using an all in one Modem /Router. A typical modem should only have one Ethernet port behind it so use this port to join together one end of the Ethernet cable and join together the other end to the "Internet" port settled behind the wireless router. These two ports should be accepted for majority of the routers ready in the market.Please refer to the aid by hand in case the ports differ from what is mentioned. A typical wireless router should have at least four other Ethernet ports ready to adapt wired systems. These can e desktops, printers and other devices that share the internet association but do not have wireless connectivity.

More developed configurations such as file sharing and safety policies can be set to additional optimize the wireless network.
